Helias boys golf wins Helias Invitational team title by one stroke

It was a good day on the golf course for the Helias Crusaders.

Archer Schnieders and Dawson Schnieders were part of a four-way tie for first place out of 116 golfers, which propelled the Crusaders to a team championship Monday in their home event, the Helias Invitational, at Jefferson City Country Club.

Helias topped the standings of 23 teams with a score of 291, edging Chaminade by one stroke. Priory was third with a 304, while C.B.C., Pembroke Hill and Rockhurst finished in a three-way tie for fourth with a 307.

Hermann’s Trigg Lindahl and Lebanon’s Ethan Mustangs tied the Schnieders brothers for first place, each shooting a 3-under 69.

Archer Schnieders finished the day with five birdies, 11 pars and two bogeys, while Dawson Schnieders had four birdies, 13 pars and only one bogey. They were two of seven golfers to break par in the tournament.

Burke Bauer, Helias’ No. 3 golfer, finished in a tie for 14th place with a 2-over 74, while Jordan Shivers rounded out the team score with a 79 to finish in a tie for 33rd place.

Grayson Moore also carded an 81 for Helias to end the 18-hole tournament in a tie for 43rd place.

The Helias JV team finished in 16th place with a 346, lead by Harper Neidert with an 85. Collin Drews was next with an 86, Lake Bennett shot an 87 and Oscar Hilgedick and Cale Luebbert each posted an 88 for the Crusaders.

The Eldon Mustangs were 11th in the team standings with a 324. Teagen Hull led the Mustangs with a 5-over 77, which put him in a tie for 25th place.

Brody Rader was next for Eldon with a 78, followed by Zach Hull with an 82. Luke Barchenski and Cooper Toalson shot an 87 and 88, respectively.

The Blair Oaks Falcons placed 13th as a team with a 332. Sam Kliethermes and Michael Atnip led the Falcons, each carding a 79 to tie for 33rd place.

Sam Closser had an 86 for Blair Oaks, while Ryan Glavin and Logan Hoffman each finished with an 88.

The Capital City Cavaliers came in 18th place with a 353, led by Gabe Gonder, who tied for 33rd with a 79. A total of 40 golfers shot 79 or better in the event.

Anthony Forrest finished with an 84 for Capital City, followed by Hayden Carney (94), Jeremiah Dorge (96) and Grant Chojnacki (103).

The Jefferson City Jays took 21st place in the team standings with a 366. Will Linthacum led the Jays, shooting a 6-over 78 to tie for 27th place.

Doug Lachowicz was next for Jefferson City with a 91, Collin Racer carded a 96 and Carson Glaser rounded out the team score with a 101. Kenny Carlisle finished with a 108 to round out the lineup.

The Linn Wildcats were next in 22nd place with a team score of 369. The Wildcats were led by Britt Winslow, who tied for 27th place with a 78, and Jett Maasen was next with an 84.

Tyler Wolfe had a 103 for Linn and Devin Brandt and Noah Hall each finished with a 104.
