Coca-Cola C2, which debuted this week around the nation, is promoted as the biggest new Coke product since Diet Coke.

Coca-Cola C2 is designed for people who don't like the taste of diet colas but would like to cut back on sugar and calories in order to avoid gaining weight.

Coca-Cola C2 has half the carbs, calories and sugar of regular Coke but the same taste as Coke Classic, promoters say. It's tastes best chilled straight from the bottle or can.

The new Coca-Cola C2 began appearing around the nation this week.

Based on a standard 12-ounce can, Coca-Cola C2 has 70 calories, 18 grams of carbohydrates and 18 grams of sugar.

That compares to 140 calories in a standard Coca-Cola classic with 39 grams of carbohydrates and 39 grams of sugar.

The rollout of Coke's newest product comes the same week that its president resigned.

Dow component Coca-Cola Co. was down 81 cents at $51.80 on Wednesday when No. 2 executive Steve Heyer announced plans to step down after he was passed over for the top job at the world's biggest beverage maker. Heyer, the company's president and chief operating officer, will leave after a transition period of several months.

E. Neville Isdell is Coca-Cola's new chairman and chief executive officer, returning to work after retirement as Coke's president. Isdell succeeds Douglas N. Daft. Isdell is the 12th chairman of the board in the history of the company.
