Hosted by the Missouri Equine Council, the Celebration is a weekend of training tips, breed demonstrations, land management help and a trade show.
Nationally-known trainer Clint Depew will offer several horsemanship clinics. On Saturday, Depew will hold two clinic opportunities -- "Developing Rider Skills" in the morning and "Training Techniques" in the afternoon. On Sunday, he will present "Developing the Ranch Versatility Horse."
Horse enthusiasts can attend seminars on trail riding, nutrition, keeping horses on small acreage, lameness analysis and horses and the IRS. Students from William Woods University and Stephens College will present an English riding demonstration on Saturday.
The trade show will have booths offering tack, breed information and feed and nutrition information.
Children will enjoy visiting Casper's Corner. Casper is a miniature horse who regularly appears at the Columbia Public Library for visits that encourage kids to read books and learn more about horses. Kids can learn what Casper eats, how much he drinks and about the brushes and combs that keep him looking and feeling good.
The cost of the event is $2. Each admission is good for a chance at free horse feed from MFA Incorporated.
The Missouri Equine Council is a non-profit, member-supported volunteer organization representing all equine disciplines and breeds in Missouri's equine industry. For membership, visit the MEC website at www.mo-equine.org, or call (800) 313-3327.
