JENNIFER CLARKSTON, St. Charles, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Clarkston and Mr. and Mrs. Don Grunden, all of Jefferson City, was crowned Woman of the Year at Southeast Missouri State University.
She is a junior majoring in mass communications and was sponsored by the All University Judicial Board.
Candidates for the award were nominated by the student organizations or athletic teams. Nominees completed an application, which included an essay on leadership.
Finalists were selected by a committee of faculty, staff and alumni. Voting was held online Oct. 24-25.
VALERIE ANN HENTGES, daughter of Kenny and Rita Hentges, Westphalia, graduated from Truman State University with a bachelor's of science degree in agricultural science with a specialization in animal science and a minor in biology.
She was a member of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Fraternity, Delta Tau Alpha Agricultural Honor Society, where she served as recorder, Sigma Alpha Professional Agricultural Sorority, where she served as president, and vice-president and received the 2005 Bonine-Gillig award for outstanding service to agriculture.
Hentges was in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities, on the vice-president for academic affairs list and was a student ambassador.
She works for Missouri Department of Conservation as a Stream Team biologist assistant.
Hentges plans to attend graduate school to obtain a master's degree in wetland ecology.
MARIAM (MIM) HICKS, daughter of Tim Hicks, Independence, and Donna Hicks, Jefferson City, was inducted into Phi Delta Music Society at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
She is a member of the Ranger Marching Band, Ranger Jazz Band and was one of two freshmen selected for the Honors Symphonic Band.
Hicks is a music education major.
