Westminster prepares spring concert

Published: Thursday, April 13, 2006 12:00 AM CDT
Westminster College vocal ensembles are preparing to start spring with song at the annual spring concert at 8 p.m. on April 21. The concert will be held in the Champ Auditorium on the Westminster campus.

The evening performance will feature three ensembles, including the Westminster Chamber Singers, Sublime Harmony, the men's choral group, and Bel Canto Chorale, an acapella singing group. The choirs will perform a wide variety of choral literature with gospel, classical, madrigal and traditional selections.

The concert also will include a piano solo and several dance numbers featuring hip-hop and tap.

“Our music students have had an outstanding year and are ready to showcase their talents for the community with a wonderful evening of musical entertainment,” said Cindy Dunstan McClain, director of music and coordinator of fine arts. “This will be a delightful outing for the entire family and we hope the community will come out and enjoy the evening with us.”

The spring music concert is a part of the Spring Fine Arts Celebration and a full weekend of activities for Alumni Weekend on the Westminster campus.

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door or reserved in advance by contacting the Westminster Music Office at (573)592-5214. Tickets also may be purchased from any Westminster music student.

In addition, the Champ Art Gallery will be open for public viewing from 6-7 p.m. and the President's Reception will be held at 7 p.m. in the Champ Auditorium Lobby.
