Westminster College offers three summer youth leadership programs

Published: Sunday, May 14, 2006 12:00 AM CDT
Area young people can register for three experiences in leadership being offered at Fulton's Westminster College this summer.

* FYI (Fulton Youth Involvement) Camp, meeting June 5-9, focuses on community service, education and fun for boys and girls ages 12-15. Campers will participate in activities that develop teamwork and leadership skills and include several community service projects.

Field trips may include a visit to Scattering Forks in Mexico, MO and Memorial Park Swimming Pool in Jefferson City.

Tuition is $60, which includes daily snacks and all related events.

Participants will provide their own lunch.

* The Young Women's Leadership Program, meeting June 19-23, is designed to engage young women in a journey of personal growth, while learning about their community, exploring the role of women leaders, discussing issues relevant to women and learning the importance of developing personal character.

Tuition is $60 and includes daily snacks and related events.

* The third program, Youth Leadership Callaway, is offered in collaboration with the Kingdom of Callaway Chamber of Commerce.

The program will meet July 17-21.

Like the Young Women's program, the Youth Leadership program also engages Callaway County young leaders in grades 8-10 on a journey of self growth, while learning about their community, the value of civic engagement and the importance of developing personal character.

Tuition is $75 and includes daily snacks and related events.

Scholarships are available for those who do not have the means to pay.

For more information about these summer programs or scholarships, contact the Westminster Center for Leadership and Service at (573) 592-6045.
