Serve Jeff City seeking volunteers for weekend projects

Volunteers are invited to take part in Serve Jeff City, Jefferson City's community-wide day of service on Saturday.

The event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. at the Memorial Park Pavilion with a pancake breakfast made by Sen. Mike Kehoe.

Groups will break out for their various projects at 9 a.m. Examples of projects include downtown cleanup, beautification of the Edgewood Greenway, and gardening and landscaping near the greenway trail that runs through Lincoln University's campus.

Serve Jeff City began in 2012 as a partnership between the United Way of Central Missouri, Jefferson City Parks and Recreation and the Jefferson City Area YMCA.

Every year, more than 300 volunteers have participated in projects across Jefferson City.

Those interested may register to volunteer online at www.servejeffcity.org.
