Your Opinion: Flags at half staff on Veterans Day

Dear Editor:

Another Veterans Day has come and gone. We all know of the sacrifices that our veterans have made over the past 200 plus years.

I am sure most everyone would agree that the very least we can do to show our appreciation and respect for their service is to honor them on Veterans Day by lowering the flag to half staff.

I saw flags at full staff almost everywhere. Whether it be churches, hotels, private schools, hospitals and many private businesses, all full staff.

One organization I think was serving free meals to vets. The flag was flying at full staff. What is wrong? Is it laziness, stupidity or just the "I don't care" attitude?

I am proud to say that I am a veteran and that I fell that it is just a shame to see all these flags flying at full staff on such a memorial day as Veterans Day. If the flag means anything to any reader I would hope that you would voice your opinion in all these places that just don't "get it."
