Columbia police: Explosive bomb found in car trunk

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Columbia police say a 50-year-old man is being held in a secure facility after an explosive device was found in a car trunk during a domestic dispute.

Police spokeswoman Bryana Maupin said Thursday the man hasn't been arrested as the investigation continues.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/14Svvmk) police were called to the Columbia Orthopaedic Group on Tuesday to investigate a dispute between a husband and wife. The couple had left by the time officers arrived but when the woman returned, officers found the explosive device in the trunk. It was later detonated by a bomb squad.

Police did not indicate if the woman was injured while with the suspect, or what type of explosive was found.
