Community meals available on Thanksgiving

For those looking for a hot meal on Thanksgiving, there are several opportunities within Mid-Missouri.

In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, several organizations and churches are hosting free community meals.

In Jefferson City:

• First Baptist Church, on East Capitol Avenue, will host a free community meal from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday.

• Immaculate Conception Church, on East McCarty Street, will host a Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at Kertz Hall. Reservations for delivery and dining in can be made by calling 635-6143 and delivery is available within 10 miles of Jefferson City.

• The Salvation Army, on Jefferson Street, will host a Thanksgiving meal from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Center of Hope. From 2-4 p.m. Thursday, meals will be served in the gymnasium, located under the chapel. Deliveries are available by calling the Center of Hope at 635-1975.

In Holts Summit, a free community meal will be served from 5-6 p.m. Thursday at the Holts Summit Civic Building.

In New Bloomfield, a free Thanksgiving meal will be served from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday at the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
