Labor Day holiday closings

In observance of Monday's Labor Day holiday, federal, state, county and city offices will be closed except for law enforcement and emergency services.

The Jefferson City Transit System, "Jefftran," will not operate.

The Missouri State Archives will be closed.

Most schools and financial institutions, and many businesses, also will have the day off. However, many retail outlets will be open for at least part of Monday, and some stores will keep regular business hours.

The U.S. Postal Service will not provide regular home deliveries, although Express Mail and special deliveries will be made. There will be no Monday collections from any mailboxes or post office locations.

The Missouri River Regional Library in Cole and Osage counties, and the Daniel Boone Regional Library in Boone and Callaway counties will be closed today and Monday. The Heartland Library in Miller and Maries counties will be closed Monday.

Allied Waste Services will be closed Monday, and all trash and recycling collections will be pushed back one day this week (Monday to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, etc.)

No publication

The News Tribune will not publish a print edition (or corresponding e-newspaper or iPad edition) for Monday. NewsTribune.com will be updated. Staff will be in the newsroom on Monday afternoon, but the business offices will be closed all day.

Our regular office hours and publishing schedule resume Tuesday morning.
