Dear Editor:
It will have taken the average woman in the United States from Jan. 1, 2014, to April 14, 2015, to have earned what the average white man earned from Jan. 1, 2014, to Dec. 31, 2014. It will take Missouri women even longer, our salaries lagging behind those of the rest of the nation.
We earn an average of 71 cents to the white man's dollar. White women in the rest of the nation average 78 cents.
Women of color fare even worse than women overall, averaging as little as 59 cents to the white man's dollar.
These numbers are for women working full-time year round and do not take into account all educated women are cheated out of one million dollars.
The Missouri Legislature should right these wrongs and every citizen should know their legislator's position on full equality for women and vote accordingly in every election.
