Your Opinion: People deserve more timely court ruling

Dear Editor:

It's been over a year since Osage County Sheriff Michael Dixon pleaded guilty to harassment of a co-worker. It's been over six months since his law enforcement license was revoked. And it's been over six months since the appeal of that revocation began languishing in the courtroom of Judge Jon Beetem.

Oral arguments were heard July 1 and on that date, Judge Beetem ordered both parties to submit proposed orders within 10 days.

The state complied July 6. Dixon's attorneys missed the deadline, submitting theirs on July 13.

What transpired since then is anyone's guess. While the judge obviously has other cases, how long can it possibly take to decide whether the revocation stands?

Sheriff Dixon and the people of Osage County deserve a more timely determination.
