Dear Editor:
Thank you City Council from both the residential and business customers of Allied Waste/Republic Services for getting us lower rates. One can rarely find a reason to complain about that!
I think that we also owe a big thank you to the Jefferson City businesses that stuck their noses in the fray to point out some maladies in our system. Would the current vendor have felt the pressure and offered a lower rate if businesses hadn't asked for the option to choose their own vendor? Who knows; maybe they do.
Ten years is a long time; I'll be 73 by then. Maybe I'll get the option to choose for my 74th birthday.
In any case, I hope we have done the right thing. Only time will tell.
