According to a recent Rebecca Martin News Tribune story "A major commercial development" is in the works in the City of Jefferson.
It is interesting that this proposed development is in close proximity to land owned by Jefferson City Public Schools. The land had been purchased as a possible site for a new high school.
The commercial development might raise land prices in the area. If so the value of the school district land would go up.
If the school board chose, they might sell the land for a profit and locate any possible high school on less expensive land.
While land speculation is not the purpose of the school board, the results might be positive. They may prove to have been more intelligent then many people have given them credit for.
