Drug bust ends in JC man's arrest

A Jefferson City man is facing multiple charges after a drug bust by the MUSTANG Drug Task Force.

Authorities said Aziz Jones, 32, of 1614 Chaddsford Drive, is a known drug dealer in Cole County.

He's charged with possession of a cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.

The task force executed a narcotics search warrant on Tuesday at Jones' home where he was taken into custody and as of Wednesday he was being held in the Cole County Jail on $100,000 bond.

During the search of his home, officers found a handgun and 42 bags of individually packaged marijuana.

They also recovered 59 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

A bag containing two bags of crack cocaine was also recovered.

During an interview, Jones admitted to possessing the handgun, ammunition, cocaine and marijuana that were found.

He said he had the handgun for protection.

A check of court records show Jones was convicted on three counts of distribution of a controlled substance in September 2010 and that prohibits him form possessing a firearm.
