Mo. man wanted on kidnapping, domestic assault charges arrested in Morgan County

Morgan County Sheriff's Office and additional jurisdictions continue to investigate case for possible additional charges

A Missouri man wanted on kidnapping and domestic violence assault charges was located in Morgan County and arrested Wednesday.

According to Morgan County Sheriff Jim Petty, the Jackson County Missouri Sheriff's Office issued a media release Nov. 24 asking for the public's assistance in locating a Michael P. Snider.

Snider was wanted on a felony warrant issued June 2015 in Jackson County, Missouri, charging him with kidnapping and domestic violence assault. Those charges stemmed from an incident in Independence, Missouri.

Snider was also being sought by the Grain Valley Police Department as a person of interest in a second kidnapping, which occurred in Grain Valley Missouri in November.

On Tuesday, Feb. 9, the Morgan County Sheriff's Office received information from the Grain Valley Police Department, who reported that they had received a Crime Stoppers Tip that Michael Snider was located at an address within Morgan County, Petty said.

On Wednesday, Feb. 10, the Morgan County Sheriff SWAT Team assisted by the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force and the Eldon Police Department SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a residence located at 31300 Missouri 135 in Gravois Mills, in an attempt to locate Snider. Upon execution of the search warrant, deputies did locate Snider and took him into custody on the outstanding warrants. Snider is currently being held at the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Petty said.

Both the Morgan County Sheriff's Office and the Grain Valley Police Department are continuing to investigate other potential charges, which occurred in each of those jurisdictions. The investigations are ongoing, Petty said.
