On Sunday, authorities with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office contacted local media requesting the public’s help in their investigation of the disappearance of Gregory B. Webb of Macks Creek.

Webb was reported missing by the owner of a vacation property near Macks Creek on April 20. Webb had been acting as caretaker for the property.

When deputies went to the vacation home near Chapel Bluff Road in southwestern Camden County, they found a body in a wooded area behind the home. Camden County Sheriff Dwight Franklin later announced because of the remote location and the need to develop leads, he had requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad.

Later that week, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office sent out another news release saying while the body had not been identified, the medical examiner’s office had determined the man was a victim of homicide.

On May 1, Captain John Stephens of the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, sent out a third news release seeking the public’s help in the investigation.

In that news release, Stephens said, “Camden County detectives and Major Case Squad investigators are actively pursuing leads regarding the disappearance of Gregory B. Webb while the medical examiner works to identify the man found deceased on the property.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to call the Camden County Sheriff’s Office at 573-346-2243, ext. 4253, or the Missouri Information Analysis Center at 1-866-362-6422 or via email at [email protected].

In the news release, Stephens also said while preliminary autopsy results suggest the deceased was in fact the victim of a homicide, “all evidence indicates this was an isolated incident and there appears to be no threat to the general public.”
