Jefferson City police investigating Wednesday night shooting

Jefferson City police are asking for the public's help as they investigate a shooting that occurred Wednesday night.

According to police reports, officers responded to the 200 block of Center Street at approximately 9 p.m. for calls of shots fired. Witnesses said a passenger car left the area westbound on East High Street at a high speed. Moments later police received a call of a gunshot victim at the Capital Region Medical Center Emergency Room.

Officers responded to the hospital and contacted the victim for further information. The victim, a 19-year-old Jefferson City resident, was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

As of early Thursday morning, the victim was not cooperating fully with investigators; and preliminary interviews have not created enough information to identify a suspect.
