Domestic assault, weapons charges filed

Bond was set at $25,000 for Pharis L. Davis after he was charged with assaulting his girlfriend.

Prosecutors charged Davis, 36, of 217-B Benton Court, with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action, after the victim told Cole County Sheriff's deputies Davis held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her, during an argument in her trailer in the 5400 block of West Business 50.

A deputy said a witness reported hearing the victim scream, then saw Davis get a butcher knife from the kitchen and go back to the victim's bedroom.

When the victim got the knife away from Davis, the witness reported, Davis then grabbed the woman by her chest and throat.
