Day of remembrance for murder victims is Saturday

Central Missouri families, friends and advocates will mark the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims with an event Saturday in Jefferson City.

The 11th annual National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims is intended as a day to honor and memorialize the lives of loved ones lost to murder, according to a news release from the Central Missouri Area Wide Chapter of Parents of Murdered Children.

The chapter, along with Missouri Missing, will hold a memorial potluck picnic starting at noon Saturday at McKay Park, 1700 Southridge Drive. A dove release will follow the picnic.

All survivors of homicide victims and professionals who are in frequent contact with grieving families are encouraged to attend. The event is open to the public.
