Four men have been charged with trespassing on the roof of St. Francis Xavier School in Taos.
Cody Alexander, 19, of Jefferson City; Austin Herigon, 21, of Columbia; Dylan Skinner, 19, of Jefferson City; and Austin Veltrop, 19, of Jefferson City, each are charged with one count of misdemeanor first-degree trespassing.
Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statements show deputies were called to the school Sunday night after a resident reported seeing four people on the roof. Similar incidents had been reported several times in the past, but no one had ever been located.
A deputy arrived and found two cars parked in the parking lot of St. Francis Xavier Church across the street from the school. A perimeter was established around the school, and deputies and school staff entered the school and made their way to the roof, where they found the four men. Near where they were hiding was a backpack containing two plastic bags of marijuana and glass pipes used to smoke marijuana.
