Man charged with threatening woman with handgun

A Jefferson City man has been charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon and misdemeanor domestic assault after he allegedly put a gun to a woman's head.

Keith S. Brown, 29, had allegedly been arguing with the female victim all night and had repeatedly come to the victim's residence to harass her while she was outside, according to a probable cause statement from the Jefferson City Police Department.

At approximately 3:20 a.m. Saturday, the female victim and a friend were outside in the 1000 block of Elizabeth Street, near the friend's vehicle that was parked roadside.

The victim and her friend told police Brown had chased the victim around the vehicle.

The victim got into the passenger seat and Brown got between her and the door to allegedly hit her while she sat, then Brown allegedly displayed a handgun that he pointed at the victim's head and threatened to shoot her with.

The weapon was described to police as a small, silver handgun.

The victim and her friend drove away and allegedly were followed by Brown, who was with another man.

The victim called 911, and a JCPD officer stopped the suspect's vehicle in the 600 block of Jefferson Street.

A consent search located a Raven .25-caliber handgun in the glove box, with the weapon's ammunition magazine located in the passenger seat where Brown was sitting. The gun had a chrome finish and bone-colored handle.

Brown was arrested at about 3:35 a.m.

His criminal history shows him as a Rolling 60's gang member, according to the JCPD probable cause statement.

Brown has been charged with the class E felony of unlawful use of a weapon and the class A misdemeanor of domestic assault in the fourth degree.

His bond was set at $50,000.
