Jefferson City resident Christopher Gates, 16, suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle wreck Saturday evening in Cole County.
The Missouri Highway Patrol said the wreck occurred at 7:29 p.m., while Gates and Shirley L. Gassen, 65, were eastbound on Old Lohman Road.
Gassen stopped her vehicle for a deer crossing the road. Gates was unable to stop his vehicle in time, hitting her from behind.
Gates refused medical treatment at the scene, and Gassen was not listed as injured.
Gassen was not wearing a seat belt, but Gates was wearing one, the patrol said.
