A wrongful death lawsuit filed in October against Capital Region Medical Center was dismissed Friday in Cole County Circuit Court.
The case was dismissed without prejudice — meaning the claims could be raised in a future lawsuit — by the family of Dorothy Otterman, who filed the suit, according to court records.
Otterman was taken to the Jefferson City hospital in October 2015 after falling at home. She was admitted for treatment of colitis, and after approximately a week’s stay was transferred to a nursing care facility and died the same day. The family claimed treatment Otterman received at the hospital led to her death.
