Eugene woman charged with stealing

A Eugene woman has been charged with stealing items from vehicles at St. Mary's Hospital.

Chelsea Morris, 22, is charged with three counts of felony stealing.

According to Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements, all three thefts occurred April 21.

In one case, a woman left her purse in her vehicle. Morris pulled up behind the vehicle, got inside and took the purse and other items. The purse contained hundreds of dollars in cash, numerous credit/debit cards and other identification cards.

Morris later got into another vehicle and took an iphone and other items, then got into a third vehicle, which was driven by a law officer from Illinois, and took the officer's department-issued cell phone.

A check of hospital video surveillance shows Morris getting into each of the vehicles.

Morris was taken into custody May 1 at the local probation and parole office and driving the vehicle she was seen driving in the surveillance video April 21.

Court records show Morris had been on probation and had numerous convictions/pending charges for stealing at the time of her arrest.
