Jefferson City man charged in drug case

A Jefferson City man has been charged with delivery of drugs and running from officers.

Maurice Rollins, 31, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows officers spotted Rollins walking on Lorenzo Green Drive on June 12 and knew he had active felony warrants for his arrest.

He was sitting on a bus stop bench when an officer approached him; Rollins walked away and then began running away from the officer.

Officers found Rollins hiding behind a trash receptacle in a Break Time parking lot.

After Rollins was taken into custody, officers found he was in possession of a bag of marijuana and a cell phone. Near the trash bin, officers found another larger bag of marijuana which had been packaged into several smaller bags. They also found a gun magazine containing seven 9mm rounds and a 9mm handgun. Rollins also had a small digital scale and was carrying one more bag of marijuana, along with $2,011.

When questioned, Rollins admitted to have stolen the gun.
