Pavement project at Dix Road and Missouri Boulevard to start Saturday

The first phase of a pavement improvement project at the intersection of Dix Road and Missouri Boulevard will start Saturday night with pavement removal and replacement at the intersection, according to Missouri Department of Transportation news release.

Work will start at 9 p.m. Saturday and is scheduled to be completed by 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The work will result in lane closures and will restrict some traffic movements at the Business Route 50 (Missouri Boulevard)/Dix Road intersection.

The following closures and traffic restrictions will be in effect:

Missouri Boulevard traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

Eastbound Missouri Boulevard traffic will not be able to turn left onto northbound Dix Road.

Westbound Missouri Boulevard traffic will not be able to turn left onto southbound Dix Road.

Dix Road traffic will be restricted to right turns only at the Missouri Boulevard intersection.

Motorists will be able to make right turns from eastbound Missouri Boulevard onto southbound Dix Road and from westbound Missouri Boulevard onto northbound Dix Road.

The second phase of the work begins May 22 and includes nighttime resurfacing on Missouri Boulevard between Dix Road and Southwest Boulevard. There will be nightly lane closures 9 p.m.-6 a.m. Resurfacing work is scheduled to be completed by June 8.

The pavement improvement project was needed to repair sinking pavement caused by a water main break last fall. The work will stabilize the area and eliminate a dip in the road.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the contract for the work to Don Schnieders Excavating after they submitted the low bid of $424,616.
