Jefferson City man gets jail time in child molestation case

A Jefferson City man has been sentenced to five years in prison in connection with a 2017 child molestation case.

Julio Clark, 34, pleaded guilty to second-degree child molestation during a hearing before Cole County Presiding Judge Pat Joyce. He was scheduled to go to trial this week.

Authorities charged Clark in March 2017, saying in January of that year, he touched the genitals of a child under age 12 for sexual gratification.

The Cole County Sheriff's Department had been looking for Clark at the time he was charged.

In May 2017, authorities said they found Clark had been living in an apartment complex in Overland Park, Kansas, and working at a pizza restaurant under a fake name.
