Charges have been filed against a Jefferson City man after a drunk driving crash that occurred in Cole County in August.

James Gordon, 36, is charged with DWI and leaving the scene of an accident.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports show the crash occurred on Heritage Highway, a tenth of a mile east of U.S. 54.

Gordon and his passenger, a 5-year-old child, were riding in a homemade go-cart when it overturned, partially ejecting the two. Both were treated for minor injuries.

Gordon left the scene and later was found on Buffalo Road. He told troopers he had driven down the gravel shoulder of Heritage Highway and hit a low area at the entrance to a convenience store. He walked the child home then went to a friend's house. Troopers gave him field sobriety tests and determined he was intoxicated.
