Red Cross helping JC family after fire

The American Red Cross helped a Jefferson City family after a small structure fire Friday morning.

Jefferson City Fire Department reports state firefighters were dispatched after 11 a.m. to a residence in the 400 block of Hutton Lane.

When firefighters arrived, they saw light smoke coming from the structure.

Crews went inside and found grease left unattended on a stove had caused a small fire in the kitchen. They were able to extinguish it in a few minutes.

A teenager and two small children were at home at the time of the fire, but none of them were injured.
