An Auxvasse man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a Friday shoot-out at the Fourth Street Break Time, according to the Fulton Police Department.

Police arrived at the Fulton Break Time location Friday evening following a report of shots fired. Officers learned multiple people had been in a physical altercation, leading to the people retrieving firearms and exchanging gunfire in the parking lot.

Though several bullets hit the building, breaking a front window and damaging an ice machine, no injuries were reported.

Investigating officers identified Markus Javone Berry, 37, as a suspect in the shooting.

Callaway County Sheriff's Office deputies learned Saturday afternoon that Berry had been spotted in the 6000 block of County Road 262 near Auxvasse. Deputies responded to the area and began a search. At 4:01 p.m., a deputy stationed on Mill Street near County Road 262 spotted a vehicle he believed contained Berry, according to a CCSO news release.

The driver came to a halt at the sight of the deputy and drove in reverse at a high speed, turning west onto County Road 262. Deputies followed, and the vehicle crashed at Scotland Lane west of Auxvasse, where Berry fled on foot.

Additional deputies and Missouri Highway Patrol troopers joined the search. Law enforcement searched on foot and from the air: the Highway Patrol brought an aircraft, while the CCSO used a drone equipped with infrared sensors.

At 5:32 p.m., Berry was spotted from on high running and trying to hide near a residence in the 6000 block of County Road 262. Deputies and troopers converged on and arrested Berry, the CCSO reported.

Berry was taken to the Callaway County Jail to be held pending a court bond setting on multiple charges including first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm and property damage. Additional charges related to the vehicular pursuit could be forthcoming, according to the CCSO.

The shooting investigation is still ongoing, according to the FPD.
