Sedalia’s Sacred Heart receives $1 million gift earmarked for tuition

The Diocese of Jefferson City recently received a large gift intended to allow students in Sedalia to attend the city’s Sacred Heart Catholic School.

The $1 million donation was made to the diocese with the specific intent of being used for tuition assistance for Sacred Heart Sedalia, according to Helen Osman, the diocese’s director of communications.

“This endowment, given to the Diocese of Jefferson City, will enable families in Sedalia to provide an education for their children which nurtures their mind, body and soul,” Bishop W. Shawn McKnight said in a news release. “The parish and school families here have found that working as one body has strengthened not just their institutions, but their faith.”

The diocese includes 38 counties in central and northeast Missouri.
