Jefferson City man seriously injured when vehicle ran over legs

A Jefferson City man was seriously hurt Monday afternoon when a vehicle ran over his legs.

According to police reports, at 4:36 p.m., officers responded to the 2600 block of Portabello Place Drive.

Robert Crouse, 71, had stopped on his driveway and exited his vehicle. He apparently did not place the vehicle in park and when the vehicle began to move forward Crouse attempted to re-enter the vehicle. He fell to the ground and his legs were run over by the vehicle, causing serious injury. The vehicle traveled through two residential yards and went down Portabello Place Drive, striking another vehicle which was parked near Creek Trail Drive.

Crouse was transported to a Columbia hospital for treatment. Traffic on Portabello Place Drive was restricted for approximately 30 minutes while the scene was being investigated.
