A Jefferson City man has been charged with second-degree assault and second-degree kidnapping following a Saturday incident.

Tyler Houston, 18, is also charged with resisting arrest.

Houston got into an argument with the mother of his child and allegedly assaulted her, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement. He also reportedly refused to allow the woman to leave the residence where this occurred.

The woman told police that each time she tried to call police, Houston would threaten to “kill her.”

Eventually Houston let the woman leave, and she was taken to the Police Department by a friend.

Houston found the friend’s vehicle at the Police Department on Monroe Street and approached the vehicle, allegedly threatening to harm the woman unless she got out of the vehicle. She refused and fled the area.

Houston again found the woman in the 3700 block of West Truman Boulevard and threatened her, police reported. She flagged down police officers for help. They tried to talk with Houston, but he reportedly fled on foot and was eventually taken into custody. The officers said it appeared Houston was under the influence of a narcotic.
