Cole County has closed the 1300 block of Murphy Ford Road for the winter, effective today.
The section of road by the North Moreau River climbs a hill through a dense section of trees. In wintry conditions, the hill gets icy, “which makes it impassable,” the county Public Works Department noted in a news release.
The closed section is northwest of Lohman and north of Meller Road.
The Public Works Department said it will remain closed until around April 1.
