Dix Road overpass reopens

A crew from Capital chips away the old concrete of the bridge deck of the Dix Road overpass. Capital has contracted with the Missouri Department of Transportation to make the necessary improvements to the driving surface, traffic signals and sidewalks. Crews will be working day and night, with some overnight work requiring single lane closures 7 p.m.-6 a.m. on U.S. 50. Although the overpass is expected to be closed up to 15 days, all entrance and exit ramps will remain open. Motorists are encouraged to find other routes around the work area while the road is closed.

The Dix Road overpass in Jefferson City is open to traffic once again.

The Missouri Department of Transportation opened the road Thursday night. Contractors for MoDOT have been working to make pavement improvements to the driving surface, which required the overpass to be completely closed to traffic since Sept. 25.

There will still be work taking place on or near the bridge as crews continue to make improvements to sidewalks, guardrails and traffic signals. This work may require overnight single lane closures along Dix and U.S. 50. MoDOT does not expect any significant traffic delays.

The project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 1.
