Crashes injure 3 in Osage, Callaway counties

A Chamois resident was injured Friday afternoon in Osage County when an SUV went off the right side of the roadway and struck and culvert.

Bonita A. Gabelsberger, 59, was driving a 2018 Toyota Highlander at 1:25 p.m. eastbound on Missouri 100, about a half mile east of Brandt Road.

Gabelsberger was transported by ambulance to Capital Region Medical Center for moderate injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.

A Callaway County crash between two cars Friday afternoon injured two people, one from Fulton.

Lashone S. Hempfield, 19, of Fulton, was driving a 2002 Honda Accord west on Route F. At about 1:15 p.m. and a quarter mile east of County Road 341, the car’s right rear tire deflated, which caused Hempfield to lose control, cross the center line and hit an eastbound 2016 Nissan Maxima driven by Sherry L. Lee, 59, of Columbia.

Hempfield and Lee were wearing seatbelts, and were transported by the Callaway County Ambulance District to University Hospital. Hempfield had minor injuries, and Lee had moderate injuries.

Both cars were extensively damaged.
