Jefferson City man gets 5 years for forgery

A Jefferson City man was sentenced to five years in prison for pleading guilty to three counts of forgery for writing bad checks totalling more than $10,000 at local banks in July.

Joseph Palazzolo, 48, was also charged with one count of attempted forgery.

Jefferson City Police Department said surveillance at three Hawthorn Bank locations, on West Dunklin Street, Eastland Drive and Truman Boulevard captured Palazzolo in the act.

When questioned by authorities, Palazzolo admitted to cashing the checks and attempting to cash a fourth bad check at Jefferson Bank on West Truman Boulevard.

Palazzolo said he was asked to cash the checks and promised monetary payment in exchange.
