Dear Editor:
I'm disgusted. At a time when America needs firm leadership at the helm of our country we're faced with nothing but disaster. Out of 321 million people, how can it possibly come down to two of the worst choices we've ever had for the office of president, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Neither, in my opinion, is fit to lead our country in these trying times.
The political system in this country is broken. Neither of the two major parties can field a candidate who people are enthusiastic about. Congress just spins its wheels and accomplishes nothing. They even abrogate their constitutional duty and everyone just lets it slide. The media is apparently as apathetic as the American populace.
I wonder when mediocrity became to order of the day in America. From the president's office on down, that seems to be the most we strive for. Make no mistake, our country is in decline and it doesn't seem that our leadership cares or even notices. This must change.
I submit the best thing we can do is to throw out all of the worthless bums who are currently in office. Replace them and repeat the process until we have representatives who listen to the will of the people. Perhaps a statesman will emerge who can lead us into a better future than the grim one before us. That's the best we can hope for.
