Your Opinion: Tail wagging the dog on transgender restrooms

Dear Editor:

Gary Gates is an LGBT demographer at the University Of California Los Angeles School Of Law's Williams Institute, which studies sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy. He is responsible for one of the most frequently cited estimates of the transgender population - 700,000, about 0.3 percent of U.S. adults. That figure is based on data from two surveys. One, conducted in Massachusetts in 2007 and 2009, found that 0.5 percent of respondents ages 18 to 64 identified as transgender.

The above is the best guess available. This issue of transgender issues is so politically correct driven it defies common sense! But most liberals and PC things do. Sunday's paper has an article concerning this written by Shelby Rowe. I hoped that the JC school district and the state of Missouri would tell Obama to go pound sand concerning his executive order allowing people that identify with another sex to use the facilities of their "chosen" sex! But Jay is an Obama boy.

When it comes to bathrooms, you have stalls that give you privacy. What's the problem LBGT? Cathy Serino states they just want to "relieve ourselves, wash our hands and leave." Then go where your plumbing dictates that you go and be done with it.

I absolutely draw the line in allowing young men into the showers and locker rooms with young women. It's a guys dream come true! But I am not sure how much of a dream come true it is for moms and dads of young ladies that will be exposed to male genitals.

Being LGBT, transgender or whatever does not make you special. You may be thought of as different, odd or even mentally ill, but you are not special. You are however just like me/us. I'm a guy; I use the locker room for men and the men's bathroom.

I don't understand why this is a problem. The tail is wagging the dog. Laws should apply equally to all. But dudes don't belong in the women's locker room! The executive order is not enforceable by any law, only the threat of the loss of federal funding or litigation. Our governor refused to fight this. I would gladly have my tax dollars go to opposing this. The kids deserve an education.
