Your Opinion: A dangerous threat

Dear Editor:

This evening, my wife and I talked to two Jewish friends of ours.

We have backpacked with them, canoed several of Missouri's wonderful streams and enjoyed many concerts and evenings together at local restaurants. They, by choice, made their careers in and raised their children in Jefferson City. If they had not retired to a different city, they would be constituents of you, Rep. Jay Barnes and Sen. Mike Kehoe, just as I and Becky are.

Several days ago, racist Nazis vandalized a Jewish cemetery in St. Louis in which their parents, aunts and uncles are buried.

You, as Republican legislators cannot deny the culpability of Donald Trump for instigating such heinous acts nor deny that for your Jewish constituents this is a very dangerous threat.

It requires that all of us recognize that it is a threat to us as well!

You need to make a definitive statement in the Jefferson City News Tribune and on your legislative websites that you condemn such heinous and bigoted desecration of any burial site; that you wish never to receive the approval by vote or voice for yourself from those who would do such a thing or those who by their behavior, speech, acquiescence or silence encourage such action.
