Your Opinion: United we stand, divided we fall

Dear Editor:

Ralph Waldo Emerson penned the words "Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

During the presidential campaign, the Democratic Party, Republican Party, news media, Washington establishment, radical liberals and the politically correct were all against Donald Trump.

Trump did not go down the political path that this country has been on since the 1960s, he listened to the 72 percent of the people that said the country was on the wrong path. Trump talked to the people, for the people. He talked against the political correct, the Washington Establishment, the news media. He will leave a new trail.

"He that will not apply new remedies must expect new evils, for time is the greatest innovator." - L. Francis Bacon

Trump is now our president! The president of the United States of America. Trump believes that America can be great again, but he needs our support. First, we must become the United States.

In the past eight years, we have become the most divided country in the world. We as a people must take to task the Washington Establishment, the radical liberals, the professors in our colleges. All have contributed to the changes to our culture, our morals, our values that our predecessors lived by. Not everything in the country was right, but many wrongs have been corrected.

I hope that a lot of people, including the high school and college students, read the opinion letter Feb. 10 by Mark Bruenger. It was an informative letter.

Another thing that ticks me off - individuals that call other people degrading names without evidence to back it up, including remarks about Trump. Hillary Clinton calling 72 percent of the people deplorable, President Obama stating the No. 1 enemies were people with guns and Bibles. May not be his exact words, but close.

My old buddy in Meta in an opinion letter called our district and state representative idiots, and Trump a rapist, racist, abuser of women as well as a liar, law-breaker. If he can prove the six accusations, I will buy him a steak dinner.

Name calling never gets a person anything except a few pats on the back from like-minded people, and a lot of criticism from most.

The people gave Obama a chance, now we must give Trump the same opportunity. Let us all be objective, not subjective.
