Dear Editor:
I am writing this letter to add my support to the J and C school tax proposals.
While there are questions and concerns about details of the proposals, we need to move forward and do some thing to address the problem of overcrowding in the high school. The obligation will be on the school board, administrators and citizens to be good stewards of our resources.
Two high schools are the big ticket items of the proposals. Community leaders need to listen to parents and teachers and recognize that all of our schools need attention. A steady eye needs to be kept on the needs of preschool through middle school students in the coming years. Building a strong foundation in education is crucial.
To our leaders: If this passes on April 4, please do not focus only on the bells and whistles of new high schools, and leave our other schools lacking. That would be short-sighted. Studies show how important early education is to success in high school and beyond. Please commit to keeping the needs of all the schools in our district in sight.
