Your Opinion: Supporting J & C

Dear Editor:

Jefferson City is a beautiful small town that I am proud to call home. I am a 34-year-old native that attended Jefferson City Public Schools and Lincoln University. I am a product of public education and truly believe it is the foundation of any community.

Our town will be faced with a choice on April 4. A choice that will allow residents to invest in the future of our children and community. A choice that may not be perfect, but is cohesive, vetted, and thoroughly planned out to stabilize our foundation and lead to growth. A choice that will impact each and every one of us no matter what.

Jefferson City residents, we are at a crossroads. We can commit to our future by building a second high school and investing the resources needed to renovate the current high school or we can choose to ignore the need once again and refuse to build solutions to a growing issue. Jefferson City can no longer afford to turn our heads to the battle our community faces to retain quality physicians, jobs, and businesses. The time is now.

Choosing to invest in your future will benefit our entire community through various means. Increased property values, additional opportunities for students to join activities and or athletic teams, and most importantly a stronger foundation for our community to grow. Do not turn your back on our community. Make the choice to commit the investment needed to move our city forward.

I ask the residents of Jefferson City to take the time on April 4 to go to their voting location and cast a Yes on Proposition J and a Yes on Proposition C. The investment in our city's future will directly impact each and every one of us.
