Your Opinion: Greitens makes treating chronic pain harder

Dear Editor:

I am writing to you because my wife has become an innocent victim of Gov. Eric Greitens' "War on Opioids."

She has a chronic pain condition and now has to jump through an endless series of hoops to get her prescription filled each month. Her doctor is afraid to do anything that might call attention to himself from the government.

She also has to take a drug test at random times to keep her prescription, and she has to pay for it!

Most people in her position do not take these drugs to get high. They take them to try to be able to function as a normal adult. Without them, they end up in bed all day because it hurts too much to move.

I wish the governor would consider people like my wife before issuing rules that lump people like my wife in with "drug seekers."
