Your Opinion: Tribune downplayed historic agreement

Dear Editor:

I call your readers attention to a 6/12/18 "The Times" article by Oliver Moody: "Dumb and dumber: why we're getting less intelligent" (www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/dumb-and-dumber-why-we-re-getting-less-intelligent-80k3bl83v).

Quotes from the article: "The IQ scores of young people have begun to fall after rising steadily since the Second World War, according to the first authoritative study of the phenomenon." "The decline, which is equivalent to at least seven points per generation, is thought to have started with the cohort born in 1975, who reached adulthood in the early Nineties." "Scientists say that the deterioration could be down to changes in the way maths and languages are taught, or to a shift from reading books to spending time on television and computers."

Now that I have seen this article, I'm beginning to think that this recent discovery of the diminishing IQ may be part of the problem with our local news reporting. My letter published 5/25/18 "Will the bias never stop" blamed the adoption of Alinsky's Rules for Radicals as the playbook for our local news headline placement and size, but I now think there may be an additional dimension of which I had never even considered.

Case in point, I could not believe this morning's (6/13/18) front page headline "Barnes seeks to block payment of Greitens' lawyers," while on page A6 "Trump, Kim claim big summit success, but details are scant" and "US politicians are not yet toasting Trump-Kim summit." The decision to choose the priorities for placement and size of your "newspaper" headlines has got to be more than just anti-Trump bias dictated by a liberal agenda. This has got to be plain ignorance for seemingly not understanding the significance of what Trump and his team have accomplished for the U.S. and the world. This historic agreement should be a celebrated event by any intelligent being who is concerned about peace in the world. To de-emphasize this historic agreement and how it was able to be accomplished by a position of strength vs. bowing to and paying off dictators resulting in nothing has got to be more than just political bias and hate for our president.

I think it's time to remove your "Statement of Core Values" as I feel it is a prime example of your hypocrisy!
