Your Opinion: Refreshing patriotism in Russellville

Russellville

Dear Editor:

I am proud to be a veteran living in Russellville. Scout Troop 96 is so diligent about placing American Flags on Route C, which I now fondly call “Our Avenue of Flags.” Russellville High School honors military veterans every year with a breakfast and an honors assembly. The assembly includes introduction of each veteran, patriotic music by the Russellville choirs and The Russellville High School Band and the recitation of essays written by students. The National Anthem was performed the way it was written without improvisation. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Everyone stood, for both. There was not a word of caustic, political vitriol. How very refreshing.
