Your Opinion: Show them the door

Dear Editor:

Hello voters. Election time is a time to reflect on what this state Legislature has done to us. The so-called tax cut (40 percent to corporate, 8 percent to individuals) was reported by this newspaper to generate an additional $18 million in taxes. This group has taken your tax dedications away from the individuals. The big one is your federal income tax deduction. With all these lost deductions we will make up the corporate tax cut plus another $18 million. It appears to me this group has taken our federal trickle down. On top of this they want a gas tax. Let this soak in for a minute.

This group gave reduced electric rates to an aluminum plant in the bootheel area, which other electric uses will make up for. If the state wants to subsidize a corporate it should do it with state tax revenue, not people’s utility bills. If this isn’t criminal, it should be. I doubt if Cole County would want their utilities increased so ABB or Unilever could make more money.

This group has patted themselves on the back numerous times. I say show them the door out.
