Dear Editor:
Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, and their obsequious GOP Senate lemmings continue to perpetrate an act of economic and political terrorism against the American people in general, and 800,000 federal employees specifically. The federal government remains shut down.
Those federal employees financially affected by this shutdown, including members of the United States Coast Guard, are certainly made of a stronger moral fiber than me. I, finding myself in their circumstances and situation, might be tempted to collude with a hostile, foreign power in order to satisfy my creditors. Wait!!…where have we heard that scenario before?!!
This shutdown serves no positive purpose other than to indulge Donald Trump’s lust for exercising power just to prove that he can do so. It helps no one. It hurts many. He doesn’t care.
